Himalayas and Southeast Asia
Explore our selection of early Buddhist art from the Himalayas and Asia, bringing together works notably from Thailand, Burma, India, Nepal, Tibet, China, and Japan. Buddha statues, deities, sculptures, and early ritual objects in bronze, wood, stone, or silver bear witness to the richness of Asian artistic and spiritual traditions.
All the antique pieces presented here come from the estate of the self-taught, internationally renowned collector Claude de Marteau. These Buddhist works of art mainly cover regions such as Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Indonesia, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, China, and Japan.
This collection comprises several hundred objects—Buddha statues, deities such as bodhisattva, and sculptures made in stone, wood, bronze, or silver. We endeavour to publish new pieces regularly on our site, and this selection is intended to grow progressively.
