Vintage furniture restoration workshop

For over fifteen years, Paul has led our restoration workshop, bringing new life to vintage armchairs and vintage chairs, sofas and couches, vintage furniture and lighting selected for their quality of craftsmanship, historical interest, or decorative value. Each piece is examined individually to determine the interventions truly necessary, while respecting its authenticity and period.

All pieces offered by Vintage Addict are restored, when necessary, in our workshop before being put up for sale. These conservation measures help preserve the authenticity, quality, and value of each piece of furniture or lighting.

Restoration of vintage armchairs, chairs, sofas, and lighting

Our workshop restores a Knoll International designer armchair from the 1950s, an Airborne chaise longue by Oliver Mourgue from the 1960s, a Danish sofa, a Ligne Roset couch, a retro chair, or a chair from the 1970s. Our restorer adapts each intervention to the style of the furniture as well as the species and grain of its wood, whether varnishing a Scandinavian sideboard, oiling a vintage sideboard, or restoring a storage unit. We also work on designer lamps, desk lamps, or table lamps as well as wall sconces, floor lamps, or any other chandelier and pendant light, checking or replacing the electrical installation when safety requires it, while preserving the original aesthetic.

The stages of restoring vintage furniture

Each restoration begins with a complete assessment. Certain pieces such as sideboards, wall unit components, or wall shelf units retain their original patina after a simple cleaning or finish touch-up. Others require structural regluing, veneer grafting, or thorough stripping. Some seating requires new high-resilience foam in addition to complete reupholstering of seats and backs. Our objective is never to transform a piece of furniture, but to restore its stability, comfort, and original appearance.

Upholstering vintage armchairs with Kvadrat fabrics

The upholstering of armchairs, chairs, and sofas is carried out with a selection of Kvadrat fabrics, recognized worldwide for their weaving quality, wear resistance, and exceptional longevity. We notably use the Hallingdal 65, Tonus, Planum, Sisu, and Tonica collections, also available by the meter for individuals, decorators, interior architects, and upholsterers.

Carefully renovated by our restorer

This exacting standard accompanies each piece offered by Vintage Addict. This is why the mention “Carefully renovated by our restorer” appears on a large portion of our product listings. Behind this phrase lie hours of work, carried out in our workshop, so that each vintage armchair, sofa, sideboard, or lighting fixture retains its character while regaining perfect quality of use.

Renovating a piece of furniture does not simply mean extending its lifespan. It means preserving a creation whose quality of design and craftsmanship has already withstood the test of time. Each restored piece remains unique, bearing a history and expertise, while offering more personal interior decoration and a sustainable alternative to contemporary furniture.
