Tiered Brass and Textured Glass Chandelier, 70s
This large 1970s chandelier combines a brass structure with thirteen curved glass elements arranged on multiple tiers. Their repetition creates a dense, architectural silhouette while allowing light to circulate freely between the different levels. This chandelier comes from the old stock of a chandelier manufacturer and had never been unpacked before arriving at Vintage Addict. It therefore presents a particularly remarkable state of preservation for a 70s luminaire.
Each glass element plays on two effects. Its smooth, compartmentalized outer surface captures and reflects daylight, while its inner surface, punctuated with glass crystals, catches the light reflected by the brass and makes it sparkle through the material.

Each curved glass element plays on two effects: its smooth outer surface captures and reflects daylight, while its inner surface, sprinkled with glass crystals, catches the light reflected by the brass and makes it sparkle.
Once lit, the chandelier therefore does not merely produce central lighting: the thirteen light sources reflect in the metal and successively pass through the glass elements, creating a succession of warm glints and reflections. The tiered structure allows this light to diffuse all around the fixture rather than remaining concentrated downwards.
A Decorative Chandelier for a Generously Sized Room
With a diameter of 51 cm and a cage height of 40 cm, the chandelier maintains a significant presence without reaching the dimensions of a very large chandelier. It will naturally find its place above a dining table, in a living room, or in a hall where its multi-level construction can be observed from different angles.
The combination of brass and textured glass is characteristic of some Hollywood Regency lighting from this period: reflective materials are used as much for their decorative aspect as for multiplying light effects.
The glasswork also brings this chandelier closer to certain Ice Glass luminaires, in which reliefs, inclusions, and material irregularities become an essential component of the lighting. Equipped with thirteen E27 bulbs, the chandelier offers significant light output while maintaining light fragmented by the various glass elements. LED bulbs are supplied.
