Textured Murano glass 3-panel wall lights, Italy, 1970s

This pair of Italian wall lights from the 1970s features three translucent frosted-texture Murano glass panels, enlivened with inclusions that diffuse the light in a soft, irregular way. Each element is held by a central Lucite button on a gilt steel frame.

The glass relief creates a dense, nuanced lighting effect. These glass pieces most likely come from the molded or textured glass productions developed in Italy during the 1960s and 1970s. When lit, the wall lights cast a warm glow that highlights the surface variations and inclusions in the material.

With their symmetrical composition and the combination of translucent glass, Lucite, and gilt metal, these wall lights reflect certain Italian decorative lighting productions developed during the postwar boom years. They work equally well in a vintage or contemporary interior.

The glass panels are independent and easy to maintain. This model can also be matched with the “Solo” versions in our catalog.
