Pair of Doria tubular glass wall lights – 1970s

This pair of wall lights was produced by Doria Leuchten in the 1970s. Each sconce is composed of two textured glass tubes mounted vertically on a metal frame. The design remains simple and gives pride of place to the glass, particularly present once the fixture is lit.

The irregular surface of the glass catches the light and fragments it slightly. It creates a warm halo on the wall, punctuated by marbling and lighter variations, particularly visible above and below the sconces.

The glass then takes on greater depth and gives these fixtures a very different presence depending on whether they are off or lit.

1970s lighting: different times, different styles

This lighting manufacturer extensively developed this glasswork in its wall lights, but also in its chandeliers and pendants, often composed of repeated tubes, globes, or glass elements. The interplay between material and light is one of the most recognizable hallmarks of Doria’s production from this period.

A pair of small Doria tube pendants, whose glass features even more elaborate work, is currently available on our site.

Installed as a pair in a living room, entryway, hallway, or on either side of a mirror, these sconces offer ambient lighting while maintaining a distinct decorative presence.
