Small Teak Lowboard by Omann Jun – Denmark 1960s-70s

Small teak storage cabinet with two doors, Danish manufacture from the 1960s-70s by Omann Jun. Behind the two doors, the interior space is divided into two compartments, each with a removable shelf whose height can be adjusted in increments of approximately 5 cm. With only 30 cm of depth, this compact model is particularly well-suited for rooms or passageways where every centimeter counts.

A small Danish storage cabinet with clean lines

This teak lowboard, produced by Omann Jun in the 1960s and 1970s, embodies the principles of Danish furniture from that period: simple forms, rational storage, and an emphasis on the wood’s beauty. With a limited depth of 30 cm, it offers a particularly small footprint.

On this particular piece, the teak’s grain is more pronounced, bringing more life to the surface of the doors and top. This natural variation in the wood gives it a slightly different presence from the other two pieces of the same model, although their dimensions and construction are identical.

The front features two doors without external handles. Their edge has a subtle ogee profile that creates a natural grip for fingers and avoids the need for visible hardware.

The ogee profile carved into the door edges provides a discreet grip and preserves the simplicity of the design.

Behind the doors, the storage is divided into two compartments. Each is equipped with a removable and height-adjustable shelf at approximately 5 cm intervals, allowing the interior to be organized according to the items to be stored.

Three elements to create a custom sideboard ensemble

This cabinet is part of a set of three pieces available separately. Placed individually, they serve as particularly practical small storage units. Arranged in a line, they form a wide, low sideboard ensemble whose length can be adapted to the available space.

Their reduced depth makes them easy to use in a living room, bedroom, or office, especially when you want to maintain circulation space while adding storage.

Their plinth construction also provides a stable base. With a few cushions placed on top, one or more elements can be repurposed as an occasional low bench, a particularly interesting solution in an interior where furniture must fulfill multiple functions.
