A frequent confusion with Ingo Maurer’s “Spring” lamp
This model is sometimes confused with the famous table lamp “Spiral,” also known as “Spring,” designed by Ingo Maurer for Design M. While both creations are based on a similar visual principle, featuring a spiraled metal structure, they present notable differences in their design and proportions.
Produced in the ’70s, this designer lamp by Honsel Leuchten, shown here in a larger version, features a broader structure characterized by a spring with wider coils and a more open visual presence.
The model designed by Ingo Maurer, on the other hand, is distinguished by a more slender silhouette. The junction with the opaline glass, slightly flattened, adopts a form evoking a chalice.
This model appears in a period advertisement preserved in our archives.
