A frequent confusion with Ingo Maurer’s “Spring” lamp
This model is sometimes confused with the famous “Spiral” lamp, also known as “Spring,” designed by Ingo Maurer for Design M. While both creations are based on a similar visual principle, featuring a spiraled metal structure, they present notable differences in their design and proportions.
The lamp published by Honsel Leuchten, here in a larger version, develops a more ample structure, characterized by a spring with more widely spaced coils and a more open visual presence.
The model designed by Ingo Maurer, on the other hand, is distinguished by a more slender silhouette. The junction with the opaline glass, slightly flattened, adopts a form evoking a chalice.
This model appears in a period advertisement preserved in our archives.
