Square 9-light ceiling fixture in solid brass, 1970s

This German ceiling light by Cosack Leuchten, dating from the 1970s, features a geometric composition of nine light points, with the central one slightly raised. The cylindrical sockets in solid brass, paired with gold-capped bulbs, multiply the reflections and bring out the nuances of the metal’s patina.

The repetition of vertical elements recalls the work of Gaetano Sciolari, blending architectural rigor with Hollywood Regency aesthetics.

Plafonnier vintage Cosack à neuf points lumineux, dont le bras central surélevé souligne la composition géométrique.

With its low overall height and nine light sources, this vintage ceiling light is particularly well suited to a small living room, a cosy dining room, or an entrance hall requiring generous lighting without a hanging pendant.

Cosack Leuchten internationally

Cosack light fixtures were distributed well beyond German borders. In Belgium, certain models appear in the catalogues of S.A. Boulanger, and the sputnik ceiling lights attributed to Sciolari by both publishers are in fact strictly identical. The brand was also represented on the American market by Koch & Lowy, a distributor of European light fixtures. These various commercial channels reflect the international circulation of Cosack’s creations throughout the 1960s and 70s.

A simple yet visually striking geometric composition, crafted from quality materials.

What captivated buyers sixty years ago remains just as relevant today: Cosack light fixtures retain this cosmopolitan aesthetic, at the crossroads of several decorative influences, which greatly contributed to their international success.
