Orrefors brass wall lamp, Sweden, 1960s

This Swedish vintage wall lamp combines a solid brass construction with four light sources, each surrounded by a ring of metal petals. The composition takes on the look of an almost flamboyant stylized flower, whose relief reveals itself differently depending on whether the light is off or on…A Scandinavian take on Hollywood Regency: the richness of brass and relief, tempered by a more restrained, graphic composition.

More than a wall lamp or ceiling light, a true light sculpture.

The light from the four E14 bulbs hits the brass directly: it reflects off the petals, highlights their curves, and shifts the metal’s tones from pale gold to deeper hues. Rather than a simple point of light, the wall lamp creates a succession of reflections around its center and gives the wall a warmer presence.

Even unlit, the wall lamp keeps all its presence: the relief of the petals and the brass reflections make it a true decorative object.

With a width of 31 cm and a depth of just 12 cm, it remains relatively compact. It can be placed in a living room, entryway, or hallway, above a piece of furniture or on a section of wall you want to bring to life without cluttering it.

A wall lamp that can also become a ceiling light

Its construction also allows it to be installed horizontally as a vintage ceiling light. In this configuration, the four light points are distributed around the central structure, and the fixture’s shallow projection becomes especially appealing in an entryway, hallway, or a room with limited ceiling height.

The brass work and floral composition reflect the decorative taste of certain 1960s light fixtures, when gilded metal was no longer used only as a structure but directly shaped how light was diffused and perceived.
