Charles Vandenhove (1927-2019)

Rare solid afzelia desk with black linoleum top and 2-drawer multiplex pedestal. Designed in 1967 by Belgian architect Charles Vandenhove.

Although the modernist style emerged in the 1930s, it was most popular in the 1950s and lasted until the early 1970s. This desk is therefore part of this period, and its lines are sometimes familiar with those found in certain models by Le Corbusier (and Pierre Jeanneret ), whom he met early in his career, around 1951, as did Auguste Perret or Gio Ponti.

The shelf covering has been replaced by linoleum, 100% identical to the original. The defects still visible in some photos no longer exist (see last two photos).
