Good overall condition. This String composition combines 4 steel uprights with 10 teak shelves of two lengths, freely positionable on the wall structure.

Assembly of this wall system is facilitated by the movable lugs located at one end of each shelf, a characteristic feature of String shelving.

String: Scandinavian wall storage with effortless lightness

Conceived in Sweden by Kajsa and Nisse Strinning, the String system is based on a deliberately simple design: metal uprights fixed to the wall accommodate shelves whose arrangement can be freely modified.

This wall composition retains the immediately recognizable character of the 1960s String system, with its slender lines, regular geometry, and warm combination of teak and metal. The ensemble creates a graphic structure on the wall while allowing the space to breathe freely.

String publisher’s label dating this wall shelf to the 1950s/60s.

Shallow and modular, this shelf easily finds its place in a living room, bedroom, or office to display books and decorative objects. It can also serve as a display unit particularly suited to a shop or gallery, where its discreet design highlights the objects on show rather than competing with them.
