According to Hindu scriptures, Devi Lakshmi adopted Lord Ganesha from her mother, Parvati, declaring that all her wealth and prosperity belonged to him. This relationship underlines the importance of honoring both deities; it is said that true prosperity cannot be achieved without simultaneously worshipping Lakshmi and Ganesha .
