Peaceful, contemplative form of the four-armed bodhisattva of compassion, avalokiteshvara Chaturbhuja or Sadaksari, in gilded bronze.
He is seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, his main hands in namaskaramudra, one of his secondary hands holding a bhodi pearl, taken from the sacred tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. The face is serene with an expression of compassion, the gaze directed towards the world, the hair carefully gathered in a bun under a five-pointed diadem surmounted by the head of Amitabha.
