Modernist brass lamp featuring a large red push-button, a graphic detail with an almost playful character. Its design evokes certain German productions from the 1960s, as well as some Bauhaus reminiscences. The large ignition button and the reflector are made of aluminum. Their paint is original, which is why we chose to preserve the fine traces of oxidation visible on the edge of the reflector and around the switch.
The textile-covered electrical cable is new, as is the plug, selected by our restorer to respect the lamp’s overall spirit.
German modernist production, circa 1960
With its simple yet effective design and the deliberate use of contrast between polished brass and a red switch, this lamp asserts a clear graphic presence despite its compact dimensions. This type of production reflects a freer, more domestic modernism, where functionality fully contributes to the object’s design.
Although it may recall certain models from the late 1950s, this lamp appears slightly later and could be compared to productions by VEB Narva or Hillebrand during the 1960s.
