Designed in 1956, the Lounge Chair and Ottoman by Charles & Ray Eames was born from a desire to reinterpret the traditional club chair using modern industrial techniques. The use of molded plywood, previously explored by the Eameses in their earlier creations, allows for particularly ergonomic curved shapes.
This model is distinguished by its balance between a rigorous structure and enveloping comfort. The combination of wood and leather creates a contrast characteristic of post-war American design, where functionality and aesthetics are closely linked.
Distributed in Europe by Vitra, the Lounge Chair quickly established itself as a benchmark of 20th-century furniture, in both private interiors and public spaces.
