Astrid Illuminated Teak Bar Cabinet by Oswald Vermaercke for V-Form

Produced by Belgian manufacturer V-Form under the direction of Oswald Vermaercke, this Astrid illuminated bar cabinet belongs to a furniture series developed during the 1960s as an extension of the earlier Paola creations. More structured and sophisticated, the Astrid series demonstrates the evolution of Belgian modernism toward more architectural compositions while retaining a strong Scandinavian influence.

This small highboard is distinguished by the quality of its teak veneer work and the particularly refined balance of its proportions. The wood grain, pronounced and contrasting, strongly animates the surfaces while maintaining the visual sobriety characteristic of V-Form productions.

The bar compartment features a drop-down door revealing a fitted interior that illuminates automatically upon opening. This feature, particularly representative of high-end 1960s furniture, accentuates the functional and refined character of the piece while highlighting the interior storage spaces.

The discreetly integrated handles, hardware details, and slender, slightly tapered legs contribute to the impression of lightness developed by the whole despite the substantial volume.
