Buddhist temple ornament Naga Makara Hang Hong

  • Hang Hong Naga, sacred decorative element and Buddhist temple protector. Carved wood, vestiges of color and mica inlay.
  • Kingdom of Siam, end of the Ayuatthaya period (Late 18th century)
  • It is found at the lateral ends of temple roofs (lower edges of gables or at the ends of lateral rafters) and is almost always below the chofa.
  • Hang Hong is carved in bas-relief, while chofa is often in the round.
  • Provenance: Estate of the collector Claude de Marteau
  • Sold with certificate of origin
  • H133 cm x W 36 x D 3 cm base included
