1960s Scandinavian teak armchair
This 1960s Scandinavian armchair combines several defining elements of Nordic furniture from the period: a lightweight teak frame, finely sculpted armrests, a backrest with tapered uprights, and a seat suspended on Danish springs. The wood remains prominently visible, integral to the seat’s design in a pursuit of balance between comfort, structural simplicity, and visual lightness.
Its lines evoke certain European productions influenced by Scandinavian design during the 1950s and 60s, notably the armchairs distributed at the time by Knoll Antimott. Here, the absence of a definitive attribution allows the inherent quality of the piece to take center stage: precise proportions, expert teak craftsmanship, and a particularly legible construction.
The woodwork has been restored in our workshop and the seat entirely reupholstered, while preserving the original springs. This armchair is now sold, but this listing remains representative of the Scandinavian chairs and designer armchairs we regularly select, whether signed models or more confidential productions from the 1950s to the 1970s.
