Pair of Scandinavian coffee tables

Pair of square coffee tables, side tables in Danish teak, Glostrup Mobelfabrik edition, 1970s. Their generous dimensions make them an ideal table for furnishing the corner between two sofas. A vast top accommodates a lamp, even a large-format one, while retaining enough space to display magazines and decorative objects.

Glostrup Scandinavian coffee tables – 1970s

These Danish coffee tables from the 1970s are distinguished by their understated lines and the warmth of their wood. Their square tops with delicately rounded corners reveal a particularly expressive natural grain, enhanced by an oiled finish that highlights the nuances and depth of the timber.

This furniture originates from Glostrup Møbelfabrik, a Danish furniture manufacturer based in Glostrup, near Copenhagen. Its production is rooted in the post-war Scandinavian design tradition, characterized by a search for balance between functionality, material quality, and formal simplicity.

A coffee table with multiple layout possibilities

Thanks to its generous dimensions, this table can also serve as a side table, particularly for furnishing the space at the junction of two sofas arranged in an L-shape. Its wide top allows for the placement of a table lamp while leaving enough room for books, magazines, or decorative objects. This versatility makes it a piece particularly suited to contemporary interiors as well as living rooms furnished with 1950s, 60s, and 70s furniture.

A restoration respectful of its history

After five decades of use by its original owner, this table underwent a complete restoration in the workshop of Paul, our restorer. The wood was carefully cleaned, stripped, and then sanded to remove old finishes and marks accumulated over time (wax, varnish, dust…). An oiled finish was then applied to nourish and reveal the teak grain, restoring its natural luster.
