  • Padmasambhava is widely venerated in all Tibetan Buddhist orders, hence his other name: Guru Rinpoche (“Precious Master”), credited with introducing Buddhism to Tibet,
  • His iconographic attributes are in evidence: the abundance vase in his left hand and a medicinal plant in his right, which identify him as one of the eight Medicine Buddhas, themselves depicted on the front of the base.
  • Red copper with brown patina, Nepal, circa 1900. Inscriptions on the back of the base.
