Oval Tin Mirror with Cabochons – Liberty & Co Style
€650,00
Oval mirror from the 60s or 70s, with a wooden core covered in a worked tin sheet and adorned with green stone cabochons, possibly turquoise or chrysoprase.
Its decor recalls the tin creations from the Tudric range, marketed by Liberty & Co. in the early 20th century, notably those designed by Archibald Knox, at the crossroads of the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements. The combination of worked metal and ornamental stones echoes the decorative mirrors of the 50s to 70s, particularly the ceramic or metal creations by Mithé Espelt, Irena Jaworska, and François Lembo, who each reinterpreted this decorative vocabulary in their own way.
Signature incised in the tin.
