Maison Charles Paris Lamp – Gilt Bronze and Onyx, 1970s

This Maison Charles Paris table lamp, produced around 1970, combines a gilt bronze base with an onyx egg displaying natural shadings. The contrast between the gleam of the metal and the mineral depth of the stone gives this fixture a confident presence, equally decorative whether lit or unlit.

Onyx, a stone traditionally associated with strength and protection, reveals its natural shadings and mineral depth here, enhanced by Maison Charles’s gilt bronze. Standing 64.5 cm tall, this large vintage table lamp naturally finds its place on a console, sideboard, or side table. In a living room, entryway, or library, it provides warm ambient lighting and asserts its presence through the richness of its materials.

The lamp is embossed with “Maison Charles Paris”

Housed in the former Christofle factories in Saint-Denis, near Paris, the maison carries on a renowned expertise in crafting bronze lighting fixtures and decorative objects. This onyx-egg lamp illustrates the meeting of metalwork, natural stone, and classic elegance.

The piece presented bears the Maison Charles signature engraved into its base. Preserved in very fine condition, it has had its electrical cord replaced with a sheathed twisted cable, carried out in our restoration workshop. The original electrical plug has been retained.
