Jules Wabbes drawer unit in mutenye, 1960s
This Jules Wabbes drawer unit, produced in the 1960s, follows the models designed since the early 1950s. Titled ‘Bloc Mobile’, it features a top shelf finished in black laminate, while steel uprights provide a minimalist structure.
It is equipped with special carpet glides supplied by the Italian company Velca, with whom Wabbes collaborated on the Foncolin building in Brussels. He was awarded a silver medal at the 1957 Milan Triennale for the furniture proposed for this project.
The side lock for the drawers unfortunately no longer has its key.
This unit was completely disassembled and restored in our workshop: cleaning, stripping, sanding, and varnishing of the wooden surfaces. The metal components were also thoroughly polished to remove dirt and oxidation.
