Jules Wabbes

Jules Wabbes (1919–1974) was one of the major figures of post-war Belgian design. An antiquarian and decorator in Brussels, he quickly developed a demanding approach to furniture, based on architectural rigor and the quality of materials.

His creations — desks, tables, cabinets and accessories — combine precious woods with stainless steel structures in a constant search for functional elegance. In collaboration with the architect André Jacqmain, he took part in major institutional projects that brought him international recognition. Awarded at the Milan Triennale, Jules Wabbes left a legacy of serene modernity, now considered one of the most sought-after signatures in 20th-century Belgian furniture.
