Kuruma Tansu, wheeled chest.
- “Kuruma Tansu” i.e. wheeled storage chest made mainly from chestnut and elm (Kiri/Keyaki), Mikuni region, Japan, Edo period, first quarter of the 19th century.
- These chests have become quite rare, as they were banned due to the congestion they caused in the streets during major fires.
- Provenance: Estate of art dealer and collector Claude de Marteau.
