Kaiser Leuchten

Kaiser Leuchten is a German company founded in 1895 by Hermann Kaiser in Neheim. Initially specializing in the manufacture of metal components and kerosene lamps, it began a gradual transition to electric lighting at the beginning of the XXᵉ century, rapidly becoming one of the major players in industrial and domestic lighting in Germany.

Between the wars, Kaiser made a name for itself with the quality and functionality of its lighting fixtures, notably with the famous Kaiser idell lamps designed by Christian Dell, emblematic figures of modernist design and Bauhaus aesthetics. These models will provide long-lasting lighting for administrative offices and professional spaces.

After the destruction of the Second World War, the company underwent strong expansion before being integrated into major industrial groups from the late 1970s onwards. Today, the Kaiser Idell brand belongs to Fritz Hansen, testifying to the company’s central place in the history of XXᵉ century design.
