Founded in Munich in 1898, the Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst im Handwerk (Ateliers Réunis des Arts et Métiers) championed a vision of furniture that combined art, craftsmanship and modernity.
Inspired by Jugendstil, they rejected mass production in favor of one-off pieces or small series, their philosophy aimed to elevate everyday living through functional, refined design.
In 1900, they won a Grand Prix at the Paris Universal Exhibition.
Their creations equip liners, residences and prestigious spaces, with simplicity and precision of form at the heart of their approach.
After 1945, production shifted to high-end commercial furniture, and their legacy remains a benchmark of German artisanal design.
The company closed in 1991, after nearly a century in business.
