Large Minimalist Modernist Wall Coat Rack
€1580,00
- Wall-mounted coat rack in glass (top shelf), acrylic (doors) and solid brass, circa 1960.
- Its radical design is reminiscent of certain models by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte. However, beyond its almost extreme minimalism, it is probably a fine example of the productions of Vereinigte Werkstätten München (Les Ateliers Réunis) : The machining, choice of materials and quality of assembly assert the company’s rejection of industrial mass production, as well as its desire to make functionality apparent.
- W 123 CM X D 29 CM X H 14 CM.
- Very slight marks of normal wear on brass parts and Plexiglas, a very small chip (2mm) in the glass part (see photos).

German modernist coat rack and functional design
This wall coat rack illustrates a modernist approach based on clean lines and functionality. Its streamlined structure emphasizes an immediate understanding of the object: an efficient wall storage solution, without superfluous decorative effects, where each element serves a specific purpose.
Founded in 1898 in Munich, the Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst im Handwerk (United Workshops for Art in Craft) championed a vision of furniture combining art, craftsmanship, and modernity. Inspired by Jugendstil, they favored quality production, often in small series, with particular attention to materials and execution.
After 1945, their production evolved toward more accessible furniture while maintaining a high level of standards. This type of piece reflects this transition: a rationalized design, adapted to modern interiors, yet still rooted in German artisanal tradition.
The company ceased operations in 1991, after nearly a century of existence.
