3-door sideboard by Oswald Vermaercke & V-Form
Produced by the Belgian manufacturer V-Form under the direction of Oswald Vermaercke, this 3-door sideboard develops a language close to the first “Paola” series designed in the late 1950s, a period during which Belgian furniture opened up widely to Scandinavian influences and international modernism.
The model is distinguished by its particularly horizontal proportions, its sober design, and the quality of its finishes. The opening doors retain discreetly integrated handles whose center is highlighted by a circular aluminum insert, a refined detail characteristic of certain V-Form productions from this period.
The particularly pronounced wood grain contributes strongly to the visual presence of the piece while reinforcing the natural warmth of the surfaces. The slender and slightly tapered base contributes to the architectural balance of the whole despite the large dimensions of the sideboard.
The drawers feature very clean, light wood interiors, offering a deliberate contrast once the piece is opened. This attention to daily use testifies to the care taken in the design of Oswald Vermaercke’s productions for V-Form.
The surfaces have been carefully restored while preserving the natural nuances of the wood and the depth of its grain developed over time.
