Shakyamuni Buddha in bronze.

 

  • Shakyamuni Buddha, seated in vajrasana on a flat base, with a benevolent gaze, hands in bhumisparsa mudra (taking the earth as witness). He invokes the goddess of the earth to witness his victory over Mara’s ultimate temptations.
  • His head is surmounted by theUsnisha, a cranial protuberance symbolizing a high degree of enlightenment. He is dressed in the monastic robe with its undulating pleats of timeless beauty.
  • Very nice copy in copper alloy (Asian bronze), the eyes in glass, the gilding is preserved.
