DS-31 Leather Sofa by de Sede
Produced by de Sede in Switzerland during the 1970s, the DS-31 model exemplifies the manufacturer’s approach during this period: lounge seating with generous proportions combined with exceptionally high-quality leather work. This 3-seater bench rests on an aluminum base, contrasting with the warm presence of the brown aniline leather.
The DS-31 stands out with its low, horizontal lines and enveloping comfort, typical of de Sede’s vintage productions. The thick leather has developed a deep, nuanced patina over decades of use, a highly sought-after characteristic in the Swiss manufacturer’s older pieces.
Today sometimes referred to as “DS-31 Lace” by de Sede, the model is distinguished by its visible leather laces, contributing to the particularly unique visual identity of this series.
Like many models produced by de Sede during the 1970s, this sofa prioritizes material quality, seat density, and a comfort approach designed for particularly durable daily use.
This bench remains in very good overall condition with some visible marks of use on the back, naturally testifying to its age. The leather has been maintained to preserve its suppleness and the richness of its original patina.
