Willy Rizzo Furniture – Italian Design from the 1970s

Willy Rizzo: the photographer’s eye turned designer
Photographer, artistic director and designer, Willy Rizzo developed an immediately recognizable universe, combining discreet luxury, architectural modernism and sophisticated materials. Known for his celebrated photographs published in Paris Match, Vogue and Marie-Claire, he frequented during the 1950s and 1960s the great figures of cinema, fashion and the European art world.

Settling in Rome from 1968, he simultaneously began a career as a designer and produced his own furniture. Some of his creations were also manufactured by the Italian publisher Mario Sabot. His living room furniture combines chrome and brass, lacquer, stainless steel, smoked glass and precious woods, in a spirit characteristic of Italian design from the 1970s. Among his most iconic creations are the TRG rotating coffee table (Table Ronde Girevole) and the “Alveo” coffee table in thuya veneer. Desks, consoles, bar cabinets, mirrors and living room furniture express a luxurious and structured aesthetic, now emblematic of Willy Rizzo furniture and vintage Italian design.

Willy Rizzo furniture captivates through its balance between decorative sophistication and modern functionality. His creations naturally dialogue with modernist interiors, Hollywood-inspired settings, Space Age furniture and Italian design from the 1970s.
