Danish designer and pioneer of modular wall furniture
Born in Frederiksberg in 1911, Poul Cadovius is among the major figures of 20th-century Danish design. Trained as an upholsterer and saddler, he developed an early interest in functional interior solutions and new industrial production methods. In 1945, he founded his own furniture manufacturing company before creating, a few years later, the famous “Royal System” wall system.

The Royal System was produced in various wood species, notably teak, rosewood and oak, contributing to its success in Scandinavian interiors from the 1950s to the 1970s.
