Poul Cadovius
Danish designer and pioneer of modular wall-mounted furniture
Born in Frederiksberg in 1911, Poul Cadovius is regarded as one of the leading figures of Danish design in the twentieth century. Trained as an upholsterer and saddler, he developed an early interest in functional interior solutions and new industrial production methods. In 1945, he founded his own furniture manufacturing company before creating, a few years later, the famous « Royal System » wall-mounted shelving system.
The Royal System was produced in a variety of wood species, including teak, rosewood and oak, contributing to its success in Scandinavian interiors from the 1950s through the 1970s.
