  • Unusual box featuring a rabbit, carved in wood, probably makura (pillow), Japan, Edo period circa 1800.
  • The lid and base have 4 holes through which the hinge links passed. Those at the bottom are inside the box, probably to ensure stable closure, but are not visible in the photo.
  • On the front and back of the box, a pin fits into a hole to ensure stable closure.
  • W 40 CM X D 14 CM X H 18 CM.
  • H useful 6 CM.
  • Provenance: Estate of the dealer and collector Claude de Marteau.
