Brass table lamp

Table lamp with a solid brass base tapered in a double spindle and original dusty rose fabric shade, anonymous edition from the late 1950s or early 1960s.

• New electrification carried out by our restorer (Twisted textile cord to standard)
• H 52 cm x Shade diameter 33 cm. Base diameter 17 cm.
• The underside of the lamp base is covered with a leather pad.
• The top of the lampshade shows signs of normal wear (slightly stained, see photo).

Light from another time

This small bedside lamp from the 1950s caught our attention through the simplicity of its forms and the precision of its proportions.

Its dusty rose lampshade, combined with a multitude of details that are never truly incidental—such as the form and feel of the brass or the slight curve of its base—irresistibly transports us to that golden era when time aligned with our desire to do better… rather than the opposite, as is now too often the case. Even when it is “only” a simple small accent lamp. Perhaps even especially so.

These well-crafted objects are tending to disappear. They belong to the slow time required to seek, interpret, and restore them. An essential protocol to make them our daily companions.

It is now complete, particularly for Paul, our restorer. We are passing it on, and you will quickly realize that this lamp provides a light that does not come solely from its bulb.
