Source le soleil.com:Benoit’s fame was not only due to his recognized talent as a painter and his passion for the national heritage at the beginning of the Quiet Revolution. At the time, antique stores were springing up like mushrooms. As a singer of Old Quebec in his first paintings, they are strongly involved in the resurrection of the Little Champlain Street with the de Blois, Paré, Vilandré, Robitaille. As the man holds a master’s degree in administration, he opened a large furniture store on St. Paul Street in 1961, Le mobilier international. Until 1985, the business will become the cenacle of the amateurs of furniture designs signed by the greatest European and American names. Benoit Côté will initiate and reveal Scandinavian furniture, French, Italian and Californian avant-garde designers. Moreover, the floors of the commercial building will skilfully blend the old Quebec style with the modern international style. From then on, you will find the most beautiful wardrobes of the country in their original colors, curved chests of drawers still in their juice, as they say, next to armchairs and sofas signed Le Corbusier-Perret, Danish teak sideboards with pure lines and Scandinavian design in glassware, cutlery and tableware.
