Large Pair of Neo-Baroque Wall Lights in Gilded Wrought Iron.
- Imposing pair of neo-baroque wrought-iron sconces, hand-crafted circa 1940/1950, evoking revisited neo-classical productions, notably by Maison Jansen.
- Perfectly preserved period gilding. The rings are movable and adjoining.
- Pull-button” ignition system, with buttons matching the sconce. The pull switches have been renewed, but it is not essential to keep this system (just undo the cord).

This type of fixture was designed for elegant interiors where modern and classic furniture coexisted. The wrought-iron trend was clearly initiated at the time by decorator and master wrought-iron worker Gilbert Poillerat, who, after completing his studies at the Ecole Boule, spent almost ten years working with the famous industrial wrought-iron worker Edgar William Brandt.
Poillerat would say, “Iron doesn’t need to be an accessory, it’s an ornament”, and although this pair of sconces is not in his style, it comes from a period when his style and vocabulary were essential, a form of emanation, of reminiscence…
