Cabinet Coréen Jang
- Korean cabinet called “Duck” or “Jang” in solid wood, mainly Zelkova elm (느티나무 榉树/櫸樹 ), is a wedding “cabinet” nicknamed “Mandarin Duck” because these ducks unite for life and never leave each other. They symbolize the number “2”. These were usually the most important and expensive pieces of furniture in the house.
- The cabinet is embellished with applied cut and chased brass fittings, opening on 3 levels. The two upper pedestals have two doors, while the first has a pair of double doors, each revealing a pedestal with 4 asymmetrical drawers.
- Chosŏn (Joseon) period circa 1800. ( 조선 – 朝鮮 )
- Provenance: Estate of collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.

- Only one key available for the lower doors, the locks no longer work but the doors close properly.
