• The checkered Kvadrat Sisu fabric imagined by renowned designer Nanna Ditzel, echoing her iconic Hallingdal textile created for Kvadrat in 1965. It was brought back to light by artist Danh Vo, who rediscovered the pattern in Kvadrat’s archives and chose it for his exhibition at the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK) entitled “Take My Breath Away”.Danh Vo became interested in Sisu while exploring Nanna Ditzel’s work, driven by his curiosity for the dialogue between textiles and furniture. While studying her work, he noticed that the designer didn’t always sign her most emblematic creations.Sisu presents itself as a reinterpretation of Hallingdal observed through a magnifying glass. Woven from thick, generous wool yarns, it reveals a check pattern that is both assertive and delicate. Blocks of color punctuate the fabric’s surface, giving it a lively texture and distinctive tactile character.
