Ceres silver bracelet, Björn Weckström & Lapponia.
- In 1969, Finnish goldsmith and sculptor Björn Weckström (1935) designed this “Ceres” bracelet for Lapponia Jewellery, of which he is the founder, it was created to celebrate the historic moon landing of the Apollo 11 mission.
- This solid silver jewel, titled at 925/°°°, is part of Weckström’s “Space Silver” series, inspired by space exploration and futuristic shapes, symbolizing the enthusiasm of the time for space conquests.
- Such was the success of the Space Silver series that Georges Lucas chose to have CarrieFisher, Princess Leia, wear the “Planetary Valleys” necklace in the first Star Wars film, in 1975.
- The clasp mentions “MET” as this is the only metal part, for reasons of sturdiness.
